I received a number of representations regarding the reduction in surgery hours during the summer in the Ballymore Eustace service run by Dr. Andrina O’Brien when it was reduced further to just two days a week. There was concern expressed that contractual obligations with the HSE were being breached.

I highlighted this matter with the HSE and they advised me that they met with Dr. O’ Brien on 5th November 2013 in relation to the surgery in Ballymore. The HSE confirmed that the previous reduction to three days was approved by the HSE in November 2010.

Dr. O’ Brien has been advised that any future changes she wishes to make must first be approved by the HSE. Dr. O’ Brien has accepted this and is fully committed to her three day surgery in Ballymore Eustace and her contractual obligations which is good news.
