How We Treat Your Personal Data

In the course of our work we gather personal data which is given to us by constituents to allow us to make representations and deal with state agencies on their behalf. This data is retained as it is necessary for the legitimate interests of those we assist.

This privacy notice is designed to advise you on how we keep and maintain your data safely and securely.

We will not share your contact details or personal data with anyone unless it is necessary to do so and you have given your consent.
It may not always be clear when an existing query requires us to make contact, and we may in due course be able to help you with some matter other than the one you initially got in touch about. We may also send you local/national updates by email and/or post. Therefore, I will retain your contact details such as landline phone number, mobile phone number, email address, and home address unless:

  • you tell me you don’t want me to retain that information, or
  • I stop being a member of either Houses of the Oireachtas

We retain email conversations that we have had so that we can assist you when you get in touch again. The work we do on behalf of constituents involves contacting state agencies and departments on your behalf, which can require numerous interactions and follow up.

All of our electronic records are confined to secure and confidential servers within the Houses of the Oireachtas.

We follow best practice guidelines provided by the Data Protection Commissioner and keep our policy updated regularly.

If you have any further questions on the above, please call my office on 045-487624 or email me on martin.heydon@oir.ie.
