Fine Gael TD for Kildare South Martin Heydon, has today (Friday) welcomed the announcement by Minister for Defence Alan Shatter of a new recruitment campaign for personnel to both the Permanent and Reserve Defence Forces.
“I am delighted to see this Government’s commitment to the Defence Forces confirmed through the announcement of a recruitment campaign for 400 personnel to the Permanent Defence Force (both Army and Navy) and 500 personnel to the Reserve Defence forces. The recruitment competition for both will be run through a centralized online application system on the Defence Forces Website Military.ie.
“This will be the first intake of recruits to the Reserve since the reorganization of the force by the Minister last year and will maintain the strength of the Permanent Defence Force at 9,500 personnel. This will be a boost to the Newbridge/Curragh areas where many of those personnel and their families are based.
