Fine Gael TD for Kildare South Martin Heydon has today (Friday) highlighted the need for more support in Newbridge for start ups and existing small business. Speaking at a business breakfast organised by Newbridge Chamber he outlined his vision for businesses in Newbridge and its wider environs.

“I am looking for space to promote enterprise and assist those with an entrepreneurial spirit or a business idea. We have experts in the private sector who are willing to aid and mentor small business and start ups. I want to see a public private mix that draws on that expertise and synergies to make Newbridge a great place to establish and run a small business.

“This Government is focused on the provision of necessary supports to create the environment where jobs can be retained and created. I welcome recent announcements such as the new Strategic Banking Corporation to help channel credit into expanding Irish small businesses and an online tool to make information on all state supports for business available in one location. But I am aware that further supports are still needed.

“We need an Intreo office in Newbridge to support those who are currently out of work. In addition to social welfare financial supports, an Intreo office would provide a single point of contact for all employment and income supports and offer a more streamlined and practical approach to help those unemployed back into the workforce

“We have restored stability to the Economy and regained our international reputation, now we need to focus on growth and jobs to allow us to ease the burden from those who have been working and expand our workforce. I look forward to working with the Chamber and other local agencies to make this happen.
