Fine Gael TD for Kildare South Martin Heydon has welcomed progress on the long awaited extension for Newbridge cemetary.  He was speaking after Kildare County Council confirmed that outstanding issues at the site of the extension had now been resolved and they are now ready to bring a Part VIII planning application for the newly acquired site.

“I had been concerned about the delays in the process following the decision by Kildare County Council to purchase land for the extension. I have been assured that those issues which caused delay have now been resolved and the Part VIII planning process can now be brought before the municipal committee at its January meeting.

“This extension represents a significant investment by the council in Newbridge . It is expected to cater for the needs of the town for the next 20 years.  I commend council officials for their perseverance on this issue and look forward to seeing more progress in the coming months.
