Fine Gael TD for Kildare South Martin Heydon, has today (Monday) welcomed the announcement by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring T.D, of grants totalling €600,000 to two Local Authority swimming pools in Kildare, under the Local Authority Swimming Pool Programme energy efficiency upgrade and enhanced disabled access initiative.
“The swimming pools in Athy and Naas are important facilities and used extensively by both locals and tourists. This funding will help to improve the energy efficiency of the pools and enhance the disabled access. It will enable K Leisure who run the pools to reduce their energy costs and improve the facilities for all users, including disabled users of the pools.
“I am delighted that of 16 swimming pools which received funding today, 2 are in the Kildare.”
