Fine Gael TD for Kildare South Martin Heydon, has today (Thursday) facilitated a meeting between Minister for Arts Heather Humphries and representatives of the Gerard Manley Hopkins Festival Committee in Leinster House.
Speaking after the meeting Deputy Heydon said “I am delighted that Minister Humphries was able to meet the representatives from the Hopkins festival committee in advance of the festival which runs from Friday 24th July to Thursday 30th July in Newbridge. She was impressed with the line up for this years festival and expressed her support of the Committee for the years ahead. The meeting was helpful in exploring potential funding avenues to help the festival expand and grow into the future
“I would like to thank Des Egan and his hard working committee for their dedication and promotion of the festival which has been described as the best literary festival in Ireland. We are very lucky to have this in Kildare and I look forward to attending some of the events next week.
