The preferred route for the Athy Southern Distributor Route was unveiled today (Thursday) as part of an ongoing public consultation process which remains open until March 4th.
The C2 route that was announced today thankfully bypasses Athy RFC pitches and the Showgrounds after a significant number of submissions were received.
The process now continues with Kildare County Council preparing the planning application for An Bord Pleanala. There has never been planning for this ring road before so progress is now being made based on the confirmation of funding received in 2014.
