Increased Roll out of Rural Broadband in South Kildare welcome

Fine Gael Kildare South Martin Heydon TD has today (Friday) welcomed the expansion of the roll out of high speed broadband in South Kildare announced by Imagine.

“Having engaged with senior management in private sector providers, I am delighted that Imagine have taken up my request to increase their investment in provision of high speed broadband in Kildare South.

“Following their rollout around Kilcullen during the summer, they have now confirmed that they are ready to go live with sites at Athy and on Dunmurray Hill, outside Rathangan.

“Residents in Kildare South who want to see if their area is covered can check their coverage by contacting Imagine at http://www.imagine.ie/lte-fibre-coverage/lte-broadband-kildare/ or by calling their call centre in Sandyford on 1890 929 300 for direct feedback.

Given the scale of the issue in South Kildare, I am aware that there are many areas that still require services and this is another option for people.  My main aim has been to increase the amount of choice available to consumers in the hope that this will bridge the gap and help provide appropriate services while we await the state investment programme which is ongoing.

I am continuing to engage with commercial providers about their offerings in this area to try to increase the services available.  I am also continuing to press Eir to include more areas of Kildare South in the next phase of their fibre broadband rollout but this increased investment by Imagine is another step in expanding the roll out of high speed broadband to more parts of South Kildare.
