I was delighted to attend the official opening of the new Credit Union office on Edward St Newbridge last Saturday.

The demise of Newbridge’s Credit Union was a terrible blow to the town and left the 11th largest town in the Country without Credit Union services.

After the closure of the Credit Union, I prioritised the need to return Credit Union Services to Newbridge.  This involved working with a lot of groups and fighting the Central Bank to open up the common bond area to allow for a return of Credit Union Services in the future.

This move ultimately led to the establishment of a new Credit Union branch in Newbridge.  The Credit Union has been operating out of a temporary building for the past few months while the new premises on Edward St was being renovated.

The newly refurbished credit union, in what was formerly McCabe’s pub, is now officially opened and is a boost for both residents and business alike in the run up to Christmas.
