Following a meeting I organised with local residents representatives and Kildare County Council recently, we received a further update on Coughlanstown Road.

We were informed that the consultants O’Connor Sutton Cronin have completed their survey and have come back with a number of different options to Kildare County Council. By the end of September, Kildare County Council hopes to have the options developed into a business case and have an agreement with the companies that have services under the road to make a contribution to the cost of the works.

Depending on what financial contribution Kildare County Council gets from the companies, we will know how much money we need to get from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, which I will fight for in order for work to be completed.

If this timeline is met, Kildare County Council hopes to go to Public Consultation in November 2018 and from here the preferred option will go to a Part 8 Planning Application.

The Council are hopeful that construction on whatever the preferred option is will start in 2019.

I have a follow up meeting with Kildare County Council and local residents representatives planned for early October to review progress and to keep the pressure on.

Rest assured of my ongoing work on this issue to get this resolved as soon as possible.
