Fine Gael TD for Kildare South and Chairman of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party, Martin Heydon, has welcomed the announcement of €2m in funding from Failte Ireland for investment in the Irish Racehorse Experience at the National Stud.
“This new Racehorse Experience, the first of its kind in Ireland is ideally placed at the National Stud in Co. Kildare, the Thoroughbred County. Kildare’s rich heritage of horse racing and breeding will provide the ideal platform for this new innovative national experience.
“I was delighted to welcome Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Brendan Giffin to the National Stud today to announce details of the new funding.
The new experience, which is due to open in Spring 2020 will be an immersive experience taking the visitor through all aspects of training and racing their own racehorse. It will make use of state of the art simulation technology never used in Ireland before.
“Situated as it is on the edge of the Curragh, the new Irish Racehorse Experience at the National Stud can build on and link in with other nearby attractions within Ireland’s Ancient East including The Curragh Racecourse, Kildare Village Outlet and Newbridge Museum of Style Icons.
