COMMUNITY groups and residents associations across Co. Kildare can access a €10,000 fund to host the country’s first National Community Weekend in their area.

Fine Gael Kildare South TD Martin Heydon is encouraging local community groups and residents associations to apply for funding. “This is a great opportunity for local community action groups or residents associations to access Government funding for a get together in their own local community.

“The Big Hello, a new Government initiative, is scheduled to take place over the May bank holiday weekend and will support communities to host events in their local area in order to strengthen community ties and help tackle the problem of social isolation. Our community spirit is immense and Fine Gael will ensure every support is made available to foster and develop this unique Irish attribute.

€10,000 is being allocated to Kildare County Council as part of ‘The Big Hello’ and I strongly encourage local groups to apply.

“Applications are welcome from community and voluntary groups, organisations and residents’ committees within Kildare” concluded Deputy Heydon.
