HEYDON urges all communities to apply for next year’s funding
Kildare South TD and Chairman of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party Martin Heydon, has extended his congratulations to local Tidy Towns Groups who took part in this year’s competition.
Commenting on their achievements, Heydon said: “For over 60 years the Tidy Towns competition has brought enormous improvements to our local towns, villages and rural areas here in Kildare
“Here in Kildare the enhancements brought about by our local tidy towns committees give the whole community a lift.
“I was particularly pleased to see that all Kildare Tidy Towns groups improved on their 2018 scores. All groups have delivered visible improvements in our area. Your hard work has made our communities a more vibrant and better place. That is why this competition has flourished for 60 years.”
“Special congratulations to Kilcullen Tidy Towns who received the Endeavour Award.
“Some €73,000 in funding was awarded to 41 community groups across Kildare for this year’s competition.
“This competition really shows us the importance of participation. Our local Tidy Towns volunteers are a credit to our community. I encourage anyone who feels strongly about our community and our environment to get involved with Tidy Towns.”
“I am delighted that Minister Michael Ring today announced a special allocation of €1.4 million to support the work of individual Tidy Towns Committees around the country to assist them in their continued efforts to enhance their towns and villages.
“This is the third year in a row that Minister Ring has allocated this funding to support the work of the Tidy Towns Committees.
“The Department of Rural and Community Development will be writing to eligible Tidy Towns Committees shortly to outline how they can avail of this funding. I urge them to do so.”
