Fine Gael TD for Kildare South and Chairman of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party, Martin Heydon, has welcomed the announcement of €1.76m in Sports Capital Grants for 50 Kildare sports clubs and organisations confirmed by Minister Shane Ross today.

“I am delighted for the voluntary sporting clubs and organisations in Kildare that have successfully secured valuable funding to improve their sports facilities around Co. Kildare. I was happy to work with a number of them on their applications from an early stage in the process.

“A number of clubs who wouldn’t have received significant sports capital grants in the past are successful this time which is particularly exciting for them.

“Government is investing in sports clubs to help increase sporting activity for a healthy Ireland.

“Unfortunately, not every club that applied was successful however, I am happy to work with those clubs who didn’t score well in the system this time with a view to securing funding in the next round of sports capital funding.’
