Minister of State and Kildare South TD Martin Heydon has confirmed that €40 million is being made available in 2021 under a new round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (SCEP) confirmed today.
“The SCEP is the Government’s primary vehicle for providing support to sports clubs and communities to develop sports infrastructure around the country and is a great opportunity for Kildare to improve and expand its sporting facilities.
“I would urge all Kildare clubs and sports groups with suitable projects to ensure they are registered online at this stage and start preparing the information that will be required for the application process. I have worked with many Kildare and Laois sporting organisations in recent years on their applications and I am happy to assist any group that have any queries with the process.
“It has been a tough year for many sports clubs as a result of the COVID-19 crisis but this new round of the Sports Capital funding now provides an opportunity for Kildare clubs and sporting groups to make real improvements to their facilities.
“The scheme is now open for all clubs and community groups to register online at https://www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie. Once registered, all applications must be made through the same website which will be open for applications from 11th December to 12th February, 2021.
The “Guide to Making an Application” was also published on the Department’s website today and can be found here: https://www.gov.ie/sportscapital
