The Department of Heritage have confirmed that approval has been issued to Kildare County Council today to proceed with repair works on Caragh Bridge according to Fine Gael Kildare South TD and Minister Martin Heydon.
“Following my representations to Heritage Minister Malcolm Noonan, I have received confirmation that approval has been issued to Kildare County Council today to proceed with repairs to Caragh Bridge. I had stressed to the Minister the impact the closure of the bridge was having on local residents and the quick one day turnaround of the application by his Department is an acknowledgement of the seriousness of the situation for the people of Caragh.
“Approvals for projects such as this can take many weeks and I am pleased that the concerns and frustrations of the residents and businesses of Caragh which I highlighted have been taken on board to ensure there were no delays at Departmental level to these works proceeding. I would like to commend Minister Noonan and his staff for their swift attention to this important issue and for turning it around so quickly
“Kildare County Council now have the approval to go ahead with the works as soon as possible. Myself and my colleague Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer will continue to follow up on this WITH Kildare County Council to ensure a speedy resolution to this important issue”, concluded Minister Heydon
