€5.4m in Sports Capital Grants has been confirmed for 79 Sporting Clubs and organisations around County Kildare according to Fine Gael Kildare South TD and Minister Martin Heydon.
“I am delighted for the 79 Kildare clubs and sporting organisations who have received confirmation today of the award of Sports Capital Grants totaling just over €5.4m. It has been a difficult two years for many sporting organisations but the pandemic really highlighted the benefit of our local sports clubs and the facilities that we have on our own doorsteps.
“These grants are a vital source of funding for local sporting organisations and will allow for further investment in sporting facilities and infrastructure across a vast array of Sports Clubs in Co. Kildare.
“The awards are part of a €150m announcement made to over 1,900 clubs nationwide today. There was a record number of 3,109 applications nationwide for this fund of which approximately 1,000 received equipment only grants earlier in the year.
“I would like to congratulate and commend all the volunteers across Sports Clubs and community groups in Co. Kildare who worked on these applications and give of their time freely to their local sports clubs day in day out for the enjoyment and improvement of their local community. This a great day for them”, concluded Minister Heydon.
