Fine Gael TD and Minister Martin Heydon and Cllr Ivan Keatley have welcomed the selection of Castledermot as the Kildare town that will have a Town Centre First Plan developed as part of an announcement by Minister Heather Humphreys today.
Minister Heydon and Cllr Keatley were speaking following the official confirmation of phase 2 of the Town Centre Frist Scheme today. Under this second phase, 26 towns in Ireland have been selected to receive support up to the value of €30,000 to complete a comprehensive town plan to help develop their town centre.
“Communities are at the heart of rural Ireland. Town Centre First is all about empowering people to develop a vision for their town that can make it a better place to live, work, invest in and enjoy. Castledermot has great potential so this is a great opportunity for the town to come together and develop a plan to build on its current features. Clane was selected under Phase 1 of the plan and its town centre plan has been published today.
“Cllr Ivan Keatley and I will cotinine to work for the development and investment in Castledermot, particularly addressing issues of dereliction and vacancy as is a focus of the Town Centre First scheme”, concluded Minister Heydon.
