Kildare South Fine Gael TD and Minister Martin has confirmed that 67 Kildare clubs and sporting organisations are to receive funding of €7,588,504 under the Community Sports Facility Fund, previously the Sports Capital Fund. 62 clubs were awarded €6,601,908 in local allocations while an additional €986,596 has also been allocated to 5 Kildare groups under equipment and regional grant allocations.
Minister Heydon has today welcomed confirmation of the allocations. “Following an incredible summer of sport, this unprecedented Government investment in our Community Sports Facilities is recognition of the great work that our local sports clubs do within our communities, and of our efforts to improve the facilities we have on our doorsteps here in Kildare.
As a former volunteer secretary of a local sports club myself, I know of the work and effort committees and many volunteers put into the application process and the transformative impact this funding can have for local sporting organisations.
Today’s further investment in sporting facilities and infrastructure for local Kildare clubs will be used for improvements to infrastructure such as improving playing and training facilities, astro-turfs, handball alleys, walking tracks, hurling walls, and floodlights which will have multiple benefits for communities across Co. Kildare.
“I would like to congratulate and commend all of the volunteers across these clubs and community groups who worked on these applications and give of their time freely to their local sports clubs. It has been a pleasure to work with and support many of you through this process”, concluded Minister Heydon.
