Department funding of €58,500 will finally allow fit out of Apartments
“I am delighted that an amount of €58,500, the maximum grant possible, has been awarded to Teach Tearmainn by Minister James Reilly today. Teach Tearmainn is Kildare’s first refuge for women and children who have suffered domestic violence and is a vital resource for the County.
“Teach Tearmainn has struggled to obtain funding since it was built, remaining unopened for many months following completion. The state has already invested over €1m in this facility through both the Department of the Environment and the HSE. These funds are long awaited and will finally mean that all aspects of the facility including vitally, the accommodation can be brought into use for 2014.
“I would like to complement Jacinta Carey and her staff and Board of Directors at Teach Tearmainn for their commitment to this project. Despite many setbacks, they have never given up on their vision for Teach Tearmainn in Kildare and I am delighted that their dedication and input has been rewarded.”
