Kildare South Fine Gael TD Martin Heydon has today (Friday) said he is happy that progress is being made at the KWETB Education and Training centre in the old primary school in Crookstown.

“Crookstown scout troupe have moved in to set up their new scout den on the premises and are happily settling into their new home. KWETB have recently gone to tender for building works to refurbish the rooms for use in the proposed new training centre.

“It is hoped that the premises will be ready for courses to commence in September.  KWETB will manage the training side to provide their ongoing further education and upskilling courses.  In addition there will be a community education element which can be driven by the needs of the local community.

“On the training side, plans are being prepared for a warehousing course which will be level 4 for a duration of 10 weeks full time, as well as ICT courses from basic level up to level 6 and construction courses incorporating Autocad design and BIM.

“The community education element is a blank canvass for local groups and individuals to get what they need which might be arts & crafts, Spanish classes, or cookery courses.  Feedback is being requested from local individuals or groups on courses that would be of interest.  This is a massive boost to the local area.  Individuals who have ideas or who wish to make expressions of interest for courses in the centre should contact adulteducation@kwetb.ie or email me on martin.heydon@oir.ie or give me a call.
